Obama - Our President Elect

November 6th, 2008 1:56 PM by Diego Quintero

Hello All! I want to start by congratulating the Obama team. I was very impressed to see that he dominated the polls. The media covered this one-sided election with lots of favoritism toward the democrats but Obama deserved the win. Great campaign, great speeches, great debates, he seems to have won the crowd while the McCain campaign lacked in all aspects.

Most people in my industry want to see a republican in office. Of course, the blunders of the current presidency don't help the cause. I will say, without doubt, that maybe our country should have made some different decisions, but there is nothing that we can do about that now. I openly accept the fact that a democrat has won. I am not particularly interested in the whole, "we made history" aspect. If you voted for Obama to make history, then you should have stayed home! If you voted for Obama because you believed that he was the right candidate, then I applaud your effort of getting to the polls.

We have elected a new President and we simply need to believe that he will get the job done. It is going to take several years for us to see the affects on the country, so we need to be patient. I think that he has what it takes and he is surrounded by the right people. Time will tell and its unfortunate that not many Americans have the luxury of time as their wallets are shrinking. For those who are in that predicament, you have a long way to go. This is not going to turn around in a few days or months, maybe a few years.

Regardless, I am very proud to be an American. I appreciate my right to vote and to have all of my freedoms. I appreciate our men and woman who serve our country who enable me to enjoy these freedoms. Our government fosters entrepreneurism and creativity. I want everyone to keep in mind that we need to work for what we get. I may be preaching to the choir, but realistically, everyone needs to get this country off its rear and into high gear. If you can't find work...then create it.

The new government has promised to put spending in check, but it will be impossible based on the plans that have been revealed. We need to respond, by NOT expecting the "gimme." Work for it...Everyone get off your 'you know what' and get to work! Do it for the well-being of the country and if your selfish...then do it for yourself. Either way, don't expect a hand-out - it will cost us so much more in the long run.

That's all I have for now...but if you wish to add your two cents, feel free to respond. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Q

I couldn't agree more. We need to take advantage of the opportunities our country has to offer. Our ancestors came to here hoping to find any job in order to support their families. Those who took help from the government were embarrassed and couldn't wait to be independent again instead of feeling entitled to a bailout. Let's get back to that state of mind and our whole country will benefit.
